Armstrong Class: Year 2, 3 and 4

Welcome to

Armstrong Class

We are the Year 2, 3 and 4 pupils and our teacher is Miss Taylor.  We are lucky to have our fantastic teaching assistant Mrs Chapman working with us throughout the week too!
We are a fearless class of children who love taking on a challenge to get the best out of our learning!

Update for Week Beginning: 09.05.2022

Our topic this term is Urban Metropolis. We will learning all about London, from the historical event of the Great Fire to life now in the modern metropolis.

Welcome back Armstrong Class, we can't wait to dive into the Summer term's learning!

This week in English, we are continuing to explore our new text 'The Great Fire of London' written by Emma Adams and beautifully illustrated by James Weston Lewis. We will be writing diary entries and creating a newspaper report.

In Maths, we are revisiting our knowledge of addition and subtraction. Year 2 will be practicing their addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers (with exchanging) and Year 3 and 4s will be using the same method but with 3 and 4-digit numbers.

Our Science learning will focus on our new topic 'Forces and Magnets'. We will be learning about different materials and their properties ready for when we explore which materials are magnetic.

In our topic work this week, we are learning about what happened during the Great Fire of London. We will look at a range of artefacts and decide which resources provide the best evidence for life during the Great Fire. In Music, we are listening and appraising Radetzky March by Strauss. In PSHE, we are practicing our friendship skills such as taking turns and being a good listener. On Wednesday, we will be looking closely at the different parts of a plant for outdoor learning with Mrs Clutsom.
